Woods Dyke Boatyard operates 9 motor hire craft. of which most have solar panels fitted (see left picture) A frequent occurrence to despatch a member of staff to attend a flat battery, due to the lights not being used economically,  is now rare, thanks to the solar panels. The other added benefit to having charged batteries are that the alternator lasts longer.

During winter months having a solar panel means that batteries do not need to be taken off the boat and trickle charged with costly electricity rates. This is time and cost effective to the commercial user and Private boat or motor home users.
