What are fuel cells?
Fuel cells are energy conversion devices that transform the energy stored in a fuel into electricity and heat. The fuel is not burned in a flame but oxidised electrochemically.
How do they work?
Fuel cells have much in common with batteries, which also convert energy that is stored in chemical form into electricity. However unlike batteries they oxidise externally supplied fuel and therefore do not have to be recharged.
Methanol is the fuel used and hydrogen derived from the methanol is passed over one electrode and air containing oxygen passed over the other. As combustion occurs within the fuel cell, free electrons travel from one electrode to the other, providing constant electrical energy.

The EFOY cell comes in 3 different ratings:
EFOY 1600 with a capacity of 1.6kWh per day
EFOY 1200 with a capacity of 1.2kWh per day.
EFOY 600 with a capacity of 0.6kWh per day.
The fuel cell is only as large as a briefcase and can be built-in almost anywhere. Holes in cabin roof/sides and additional insulation against noise are not necessary.
We can supply and fit your fuel cell to your boat or motor home. Please CONTACT US for more details. |
